Trees and fogHello everyone and welcome to the last edition of the Sandpiper until September! We will be taking a few months off to do other tasks and maybe get a short vacation too! I want to thank the following people, without whose help this newsletter could not exist: Ron LeValley for use of his office, writing up the general meeting program, and his help with editing. David Fix, and Elias Elias for helping edit and produce the Sandpiper each issue, and Stan Harris, Tom Leskiw and David Fix for excellent articles in each edition. Elias Elias for writing about the docent walks, Alan Laurent for the new member list, Elyse Kelly for the field trips, Jim Clark for conservation news, and Jude Power for scholarship news. And of course all of you who write the occasional article. Thanks!

Redwood Region Audubon Society will not close for the summer though. The Breeding Bird Atlas group will be busy finishing off the final blocks of the Atlas on our last year of data collection. They will also continue looking for monies to cover the cost of publishing and are still offering donors a chance to purchase bird pictures in the atlas (call Jude Power for details). The conservation committee will also remain active meeting the third Friday of every month at noon at the Golden Harvest Café. Show up if you are interested in what’s going on or you want to help. Docent walks and field trips will also continue (see elsewhere in the issue for details). The education committee will also be working to set up programs at the local schools for next year.

Everyone have a great summer!
