Since my last report the board has met once.  It was on our regular night, the Thursday in the week before our General Member Meeting.  That day fell on 3 October 2002.  The meeting lasted for about 2 1/2 hours.  Three-quarters of our 12 members where present.  The agenda was a very full.  It will be hard to summarize the highlights but here goes:  The Board received a report from the Breeding Bird Atlas Committee.  The committee spokesperson submitted a budget for the generation of the atlas at $17,500.  Funding sources are being investigated.  The next highlight was the purchase of radios to assist communication during field trips.  One Hundred dollars was authorized for the purchase of two radios.  Also, it was brought to the board's attention that a out-dated copy of an RRAS co-produced Arcata Marsh Teachers’ Guide is being distributed.  It was suggested that the we update it, burn it onto CD-ROM, and distribute to elementary teachers.  Under the reports section, due to more aggressive outreach our membership is creeping up.  As of September, it was 589.

Members are welcome to attend our next meeting is to be held on 7 November, 7 p.m. at Redwood Sciences Lab, 1700 Bayview Dr  in Arcata.
