Hello everyone, and welcome to another year of activity with RRAS! When this edition hits the streets, the RRAS board and committee chairs will be sitting at our annual retreat, reviewing last years accomplishments and planning for the coming year. Our job as board members is to inform and involve our membership and to care for the environment.
Activities for our members include general meetings, field trips, docent walks, this newsletter, and, of course, the annual banquet. Often, at our board meetings, we ask each other: Are we offering enough activities? Are the activities at convenient locations? Do we attract new members? Basically, the boards job is to keep Redwood Region Audubon vital.
Conservation issues are extremely important for this chapter. We focus on conservation mainly through the education committee and conservation committee. The conservation committee will soon be under new leadership. We will miss Chad Roberts as he has resigned, but we cheer him on as he begins new endeavours. Chad has been an excellent leader and guide through his many years of service. He has shown the importance of a firm stance and of focus on specific items important to our chapter. He is a continual source of both historical information and on laws governing the environment. Thank you, Chad, for all the time and energy youve invested in making the conservation committee what it is today!
Finally, we are all excited about the status of the Breeding Bird Atlas at the close of this nesting season, be sure to see the update in this issue.
