February 2026

Most of us focused on a spot where privet had sneaked in, and was overtaking the wax myrtle. There is also a shorter row of ornamental plants with serious spines that Hal and Gary are working on removing. We hope in March we'll have the privet and that spiny tree cleared. We still have pampas grass and ivy growing there, but the area is already more open.
Not included here are Lynda and Gina, who removed a massive amount of ivy from the section along the slab.

Thank you, everyone!

Kelson, Trent, Hal and Dayna eady to tackle a wall of privet!

Privet was intertwined with wax myrtle.

A wad of privet roots got rolled away.

Trent illustrates how long the privet stems were.

Privet root along the trail.

Hal hacked away blackberry and ivy just to reach this hasty plant!

A lot of the privet is gone! The soil is clear along a stretch, and you can see through the wax myrtles.

This was a wall of privet two hours earlier. Wonderful team work!

We've been working on this area since 2018. Slowly but surely, things are changing.
